Co-Inventor of the new Etihad business class layout and design-lead for the ‘Aura’, ‘Venus’ and Korean Air ‘Kosmo’ seats. Edson’s styling approach is a hallmark of the Acumen brand. As a graduate of Industrial Design from The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 1998 Edson worked as a product designer for Melbourne based consultancy Ideation after which he joined Acumen in 2005.
Edson has worked on a broad range of projects from product design through to rail and aerospace programmes where he has displayed an exceptional talent for conceiving progressive solutions matched by a sense of reality in terms of practical delivery. Edson has risen in seniority to Associate level not least due to his comprehensive ability to work at all levels from creative conceptualisation, detail design development, mock-up development, supplier liaison and client liaison.
Edson’s thorough knowledge of all aspects of aircraft interiors delivery matched to his high levels of creativity has delighted Acumen’s airline clients repeatedly. Edson has also taken prime responsibility for creating a succession of groundbreaking Business Class showseats for Contour (Zodiac) such as ‘Aura’ and ’Horizon’. He has also been lead designer on the ‘Venus’ First Class and ‘Freedom’ Economy Class showseats.
Other notable airline programme experience includes Korean Air; Air China; China Southern; SAS; Thai Airways; Etihad; and Thompson Aero Systems ‘Cozy’ suite.
