Nigel Lawson



Co-inventor of the Ora circular paper towel, project manager for all seat classes of Etihad’s flagship A380, designer for the BA bed-in-the-sky, and inventor of the award winning Cathay first class. In 1994 Nigel joined Acumen as a graduate of Industrial Design with an exceptional creative talent and vision for conceiving not only innovative but commercially successful design solutions.

Over the past 19 years Nigel has been engaged on numerous product and transport design programmes adopting a senior management role as creative director and programme manager. Nigel has been the lead creative on projects as diverse as life science, children’s toys, paper packaging and high performance marine equipment. His extensive experience within the airline industry comes from a proven track record of design delivery on some of the airline industry’s most historic programmes such as British Airways First ‘Bed in the Sky’; American Airlines ‘Signature Suite’; Air France ‘L’Espace’ First Class; the Airbus A3XX (A380) definitive baseline interior and the Skytrax Award winning Cathay Pacific First Class cabin.

More recently Nigel is responsible for the programme / team management and delivery of Etihad’s next generation fleet interiors including their flagship A380. This ground breaking programme has re-defined the boundaries of not only design but production methods of many of the industry’s leading suppliers.

A thorough knowledge of the certification and technical constraints combined with an ability to faithfully deliver concepts with a strong strategic branding intent to the most stringent of deadlines makes Nigel an invaluable member of Acumen.
